Enlisted 11th December 1917 (a few days after 18th birthday) Adelaide South Australia.
Regimental No 56033 - Rank - Private - Regiment - 10th Battalion.
Basic training - Mitcham training camp, South Australia.
Embarked Melbourne - HMT Marathon 23.7.1918. appointed to / Cpl on embarkation
Disembarked London 27.9.1918
Detached to Aust Base Camp from 10th Btn France 1.3.1919
Returned to Australia 22.8.1919 on S/S Anchises.
Discharged from Army 21.10.1919

Further information about Gordon Burden.
After returning from the first world war(1914-1918) he was granted a Soldier settlement block at Winkie about 8 miles west of Berri, South Australia. Reference No GRG 35/209, Minuets of meetings-Soldier Settlers-1920 awards.
Before Qualification Committee 14-11-1923 (blocks) I.P.S.89 & 471 at Berri were transferred " without prejudice to G.Burden, later refereed to as Block 193.

NB:- This block was among the first land purchased in the area for Soldier Settlers.
