• Obituary. Adelaide Observer Saturday 19 April 1913 p41a Mr. William E. Hamp, who for many years was a well-known figure in the stock world, died at the residence of his mother , Halifax street, Adelaide, shortly after midday on April 10. Deceased, who was born at Chickaloo, on the west coast, where his father was engaged in pastoral pursuits. He had been manager of the stock and station department of Messrs. Dalgety & Co. since its inception. previous to that he was with Messrs. Barker Brothers and Elder, Smith & Co. Mr. Hamp was one of the most widely known men in the stock business in Australia, and was noted for his genial disposition and kindness of heart. He had a wonderful capacity for handling men, and was known for his integrity and fairness. His mother and four of his brothers survive him - Walter, Edward, Harry, and Arthur - all of whom are engaged in pastoral work in the north and north-east. Another brother was the late Mr. John Chipp Hamp, who was a well-known solicitor in Adelaide.
