John Tinkler

Noted events in his life were:
• Fact 1. John's father, Henry Tinkler, was the licensee of the Cessnock Hotel for a number of years. John Tinkler attended West Cessnock Primary in 1933 and later went to Cessnock High. After leaving school he worked at Commonwealth Steel as a junior clerk/salesman. In 1955 he left the company and returned working at Cessnock Hotel. Since 1956 he has been a member of the Cessnock Apex Club holding a number of positions including Club President and Secretary and was awarded the honour of life membership in 1968. His work for Apex also involved him in many other activities which included involvement with Civil Defence and the Lovedale Bushfire Brigade. In 1968 he became involved in the establishment of Endeavour industries, a sheltered workshop designed to provide employment for handicapped people.
